A big impact in just one generation
How your donations are spent
We are a small organisation making a big difference in the community we work in. We hold a 0% school dropout rate and in three years have expanded our reach from 37 children to over 80.
When you sponsor a child with us you can be sure that as much of your donation as possible will go directly to improve the situation of the child you sponsor.
95% of your donation is spent on the welfare and development of the child you sponsor.
As a small organisation working at the grassroots, we spend very little on governance, fundraising and marketing. This means that more of your money will go directly to support the child you sponsor and give them the life and education they deserve.
+ HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SPONSOR A CHILD?
It costs £15, €15, or US$20 a month to sponsor a child with My Name is Kumar, just 50 pence or euro cents, or 66 US cents a day, though if you can we’d love you to give more! You can also choose to sponsor multiple children, like brothers Suriya and Karthick or sisters Maha and Raji. If you're donating from the UK you have the option to support one, two or four children – contact us if you would like to support more. If you're donating in Euros or US Dollars you can enter the amount you would like to donate each month yourself. Just multiply the number of children you would like to support by your monthly amount.
+ HOW DOES THE CHILD I SPONSOR BENEFIT FROM MY SUPPORT?
Your sponsorship directly supports the child you are connected with by helping pay for the costs of their care and education. The child will also benefit from your sponsorship through our community development projects. These aim to empower and support the families and community of sponsored children so that they have a more secure environment when they leave our projects. This also means that future children will not require our care and can live meaningful lives without our help. To find out more about our community development projects, please click here.
+ WHAT WILL I RECEIVE FROM MY NAME IS KUMAR?
By becoming a child sponsor you really can make a big difference to a child’s life. In return we will: Give you an introduction to the child you support so you know precisely who you’re helping. Send you at least 3 updates per year about the child you sponsor pass on your messages of support and encouragement to the child you sponsor (although there’s no commitment to do this).
+ HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO SPONSOR FOR?
To ensure a stable and secure life for the child you sponsor we ask for your continued support for as long as you are able to. Many sponsors have been with us since we started in 2013 and enjoy being able to follow the children’s progress through school and life. However, there is no obligation to sponsor a child forever and if your circumstances change and are no longer able to sponsor then you are free to end your donations at any time.
+ DO THE CHILDREN HAVE MORE THAN ONE SPONSOR PER CHILD?
We want the best possible outcome for the kids in our care and for this reason the children may have more than one child sponsor per child. The costs involved in the children’s care are too high to ask individual sponsors alone to cover them and we want child sponsorship to be affordable to all. Having multiple child sponsors allows us to do this.
+ HOW ARE MY DONATIONS SPENT?
As a small organisation we have small overheads:95% of all donations go directly to caring for Kumar and his friends and building a stronger community around them. Of this, the vast majority is spent on the costs involved with caring for and educating the child you sponsor, with the rest going towards community development projects. The other 5% of donations is spent on things like accountancy, bank and website fees, marketing and fundraising, to make sure we can communicate and continue our work and stop child begging in Londor for good!
+ CAN I SEND A GIFT TO THE CHILD I SPONSOR?
The best way to give a gift to the child you sponsor is to make a one-off donation to us so that we can give the child something that will really benefit them. This might be a school trip, a reading book or an exciting summer holiday to expand their horizons. You can make a one off donation by clicking here – just add a comment along with your donation to make sure your child get’s the gift. Alternatively, we can deliver small and lightweight gifts to the child you sponsor if we have space to carry it with us when we visit. If you would like us to do this, please send an email to email@example.com and tell us what you would like to send and who to. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a delivery date as our scheduled visits change throughout the year.
